Navajo Sandpaintings, also called dry paintings, are called "places where the gods come and go" in the Navajo language. They were not made to be art, but rather as "portals" for rituals and ceremonies. There is a lot to appreciate about the Navajo culture, and this sandpainting is quite lovely an in fantastic condition. The back has an explanation of the painting, "The Creation Story."
