This absolutely fantastic antique African wooden pitcher has tons of character! It came with a note saying "Shi" and doing my research I found that this hand carved wooden pitcher comes from the Shi (also called Bashi) people in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This piece is said to be used for serving milk, wine, beer, or a ritual beverage. I've found similar pitchers (also cracked) selling for over $200! This does have a crack around the body but is still holding together nicely. This is a great antique art find!
